WATCH: 137 Limpopo students sick after drinking 'contaminated water'

accreditation

Nearly 140 students from Bosele School for the blind in the Sekhukhune area were admitted into hospital on Thursday to receive treatment for severe diarrhea. Watch.

Learners are suspected to have drank contaminated water. The MEC of Health visited both the school and hospital – to check on the learners' well-being.

Investigations are now underway to determine the exact cause of their ailments. An environmental specialist has been sent to the school to conduct tests.

Last year, the Department of Health was confronted with a major health crisis – an outbreak of a food-borne disease called listeriosis - which has resulted in 82 deaths.
