Thieves attacked a G4S cash-in-transit vehicle while guards collected cash from a filling station in Kagiso on Monday morning.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Muridili, three men attacked the guards at an Engen garage in Kagiso.

"The men pointed firearms at the guards and proceeded to take their money bag. Gun shots were exchanged, however nobody was hurt," she said.

Muridili added that the men had managed to get away in a white Nissan NP200 with an undisclosed amount of money.

No arrests have yet been made.
