Police are searching for four men who were involved in an armed robbery in Phoenix in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

A video of the incident was shared numerous times on social media and it showed the men making a quick getaway after several shots were fired.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the suspects robbed a man depositing money at a bank.

"The complainant alleged that he was at Phoenix to deposit an undisclosed amount of cash. While he was opening his vehicle he was accosted by four armed men who robbed him of the cash before fleeing the scene in their getaway vehicle."

Zwane told News24 that no injuries were reported.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Phoenix police station and no arrests were made.
