Taxi commuters in Durban found themselves scrambling for safety when a bakkie crashed into a taxi rank on Saturday.
CCTV footage of the incident shows a white Toyota Hilux plunging off the Commercial Road bridge in central Durban.
The vehicle can be seen crashing into a taxi parked at the Pine Street taxi rank.
It then rolls for a few metres before coming to a halt.
"Two vehicles were damaged during the accident. A 30-year-old [taxi] driver was declared dead at the scene and another person, who sustained injuries, was taken to hospital for medical attention," KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala told News24.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
