The year 2020 has surely proven to be one of the toughest on a global scale, ever since the Covid-19 pandemic took the spotlight on the world stage. And it reflected in South Africans' Google search bars.
This year, South Africans took to Google to find out how to make their own sanitiser at home and tried to keep up to date with President Cyril Ramaphosa's 'family meetings', as they later became known.
Citizens also took to Google to find out more about the United States presidential election and the longstanding plague of load shedding from power utility Eskom.
However, the coronavirus pandemic dominated the searches, with questions surrounding the cigarette ban during the nationwide lockdown, as well as various virus-related questions - such as symptoms and isolation advice.
As we say farewell to 2020, the year that lies ahead may still prove to be challenging as the world continues to fight against the ongoing spread of infections.
Join us as we take a look back at some of the top Google searches in South Africa this year.
