Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga and the Minister of Higher Education, Training, Science and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, will on Thursday provide an update on their areas of work in relation to the Covid-19 lockdown.
There is still no clarity on when schools or institutions of higher learning will reopen. On Wednesday MPs heard that schools are to reopen in phases from the planned date of 6 May, but this is subject to change. Feedback from social cluster ministers was that 18 May could be more feasible.
South Africa is expected to move from a Level 5 to a Level 4 lockdown as of 1 May.
