The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will on Tuesday host a media briefing where former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke will share the report on the outcome of his inquiry into ensuring free and fair local government elections during the Covid-19 pandemic.  

The IEC appointed Justice Moseneke in May 2021 to lead this process.

His mandate was "to review whether current conditions are conducive or not to hold free and fair elections", the IEC said previously. 

IEC chairperson Glen Mashinini said Moseneke "will review all relevant factors which have a bearing on free and fair elections in October".
