Proceedings in the trial into the murder of Senzo Meyiwa will continue in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday.
Last week, lawyers representing four of the accused revealed their intention to bring an application to have the case discharged.
A Section 174 discharge application is brought when the State closes its case, and the defence alleges that there is no evidence upon which the court can convict the accused.
Over the weekend, City Press reported that the emergence of a second docket during the trial could compromise the State's case against the accused.
Meyiwa was shot dead on 26 October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
The five accused – Mthobisi Mncube, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli – pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.
