WATCH LIVE | Zweli Mkhize on SA’s readiness to deal with possible Covid-19 resurgence

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize was expected to hold a media briefing on Sunday to outline the country's health response to the Covid-19 pandemic and our readiness to deal with a possible resurgence.

President Cyril Ramaphosa last week further eased lockdown Level 1 restrictions opening our borders for international travel and removing all restrictions on the sale of alcohol.

He did, however, warn of growing pandemic fatigue and second wave.

In July, South Africa hit a high of 12 000 new cases a day, but this, in recent months had stabilised at roughly 2 000 cases a day.

The briefing was expected to start at 19:30.  Watch it live here.
