Zainap Abrahams forages for worms to sell to fishermen along the Strand beachfront in Cape Town.
Amy Gibbings

Zainap Abrahams and her son, Shaheed, first began foraging for bait along the Strand beachfront in Cape Town some six years ago. At low tide, they dig in the sand and under rocks for worms and prawns to sell to local fishermen.

"There's no work around here that's why I do this, dig for worms and collect recycling to survive," the 54-year-old mother of three told News24.
