Washington - US and local authorities are trying to find a group of Americans reported missing in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the state department said on Sunday.
"We are aware of reports that American citizens are missing in Iraq," spokesperson John Kirby said. He did not say how many.
"The safety and security of American citizens overseas is our highest priority."
Without identifying the missing persons, Kirby added: "We are working with the full co-operation of the Iraqi authorities to locate and recover the individuals."
