The Teething Monster

My 11-month-old is one of the happiest babies I know. He has the odd moment here and there where he will complain and cry. But generally he just gets on with his life. Even when teething, during the day at least.

Night times however are a nightmare. My son is a restless sleeper. He changes positions 5 million times a night and wakes up in search of his dummy. He'll often end up in our bed because I am too tired to rock him back to sleep every time.

But last night was a Nightmare. Yes, with a capital N. It seems there are about 5 teeth erupting at once. Uninvited attendees to this surprise party included a mild fever, diarrhoea, an outfit change and a severe lack of sleep caused by an even more than usual restless baby who was either sleeping on top of me, clutching me tightly or kicking me in the back. It was not a fun time.

But we survived the night barely, with the help of 2 kinds of teething gels, Panado and lots of cuddles. And of course he's right as rain and the most rested of the 3 of us.

We've recently removed his amber teething necklace because we weren't really convinced it was actually doing anything, but maybe it was helping after all.

Teething babies are not for the faint hearted.
