“Playing” or interaction with people

Give your child the opportunity to gaze at faces and attend to voices of various people.

You can let your baby sit on your lap or lay on their back.  Hold your face in their visual field.  Talk to your baby.

You can also show them different facial expression, for example, smiling.

Singing and movement

You can also sing a poem to your baby, for example, “pat-a-cake”.

Hold your baby’s hands and do the actions with them.

If there is a mom with another baby, let them join in the fun by all doing it together!

Playing in front of a mirror?

Hold your baby in front of a mirror or let them play with a toy mirror.

Show them their face in the mirror.  Talk to the baby in the mirror.

Point to the different areas on their face and name them.

Encourage them to smile for their own reflection.
