This innovative mom made a piece of Christmas décor from her son's old braces.

Instead of allowing her son's orthodontist to throw the four and half-year-old braces away, she brought them home, as braces are very expensive, and she wasn't willing for her money to go down the drain.

Her son shared this story on a video he posted on TikTok, under the username Austin9943. In the video he explains, "So I had braces when I was a kid, and after four-and-a-half years, I finally went to go and get them taken off."

"So, the orthodontist popped off the braces, put them on a tray, and started to walk away, tray in hand. That’s when my mom stepped in and stopped her."

Even though Austin was embarrassed when this happened, his mom had no shame at all with what she wanted.

In response, she said, "Austin, we paid $6,000 for those braces."

That's over R87 700! We can't blame her for doing this, but she never thought that her son would share this hilarious story online.

Austin recalls his mom saying, "I am not letting her throw them away."

Austin's mom must be extra crafty, as the next thing she did was to create the Christmas tree ornament below:

At the back of the ornament, it reads "Austin's Braces Removed 12/16/2014" which makes this ornament unique and sentimental.
