We recently published a story about a dad who, after dressing up in an Elsa costume and singing and dancing with his son to Let It Go, was labeled the "best dad" online. For Piers Morgan that was a problem, of course, because he didn't quite understand why this dad was considered any more "best dad" than he or anyone else was, simply for going against traditional gender roles in their family.

One of our readers responded to the story and while he too conforms to more traditional gender roles, Piers Morgan can definitely learn a thing or two from his approach to parenting.
"I think Piers Morgan symbolises what is wrong with society now.
How I see it is that we need to give kids options, we need to tell them about gender, sexual orientation, etc. and make it fine for them to choose and to accept the choices of others whether we agree or not.
We have a responsibility to make them responsible grown-ups and also for them to know where they fit into society normally, but should they choose not want to fit into that model society gives us, that it is okay.
Personally Caitlyn Jenner's decision is not my cup of tea, I have a hard time understanding it, but until you have walked a mile in their shoes you cannot comment.
I hope to raise my daughter as a responsible, understanding, heterosexual woman, but should anything happen and she chooses another path for herself, as long as she is happy and she adds benefit to society and nature and live in peace, I will be a proud father.
In closing, Piers that says he is more a suit-and-cigar kind of guy is fine. I like suits and cigars, but he should not judge those who choose the opposite and just because we are not like him does not make us wrong, pansy or weak. It makes us different."
Do you teach your children about gender and the importance of being respectful of others? How do you encourage them to be their authentic selves, regardless of what others think? Send us your comments and we could publish them. Do let us know if you'd like to remain anonymous.
