Down syndrome won't keep me down: four friends open own pizza business!

accreditation

In Argentina, four friends Mauri, Leandro, Franco and Mateo were just a little tired of the social and work-related discrimination that came along with having Down's syndrome.

But instead of letting it get to them, they took the bull by the horns and decided to start their own catering company called Los Perejiles. They now employ 23 other young people with Down's syndrome and cater parties all over Buenos Ares!

There was a lot of praise from the Facebook community about this initiative:

This is not the first business that employs people with Down's syndrome.

Last year, Cape Town saw the opening of Brownies & Downies, a coffee shop that employs and trains young people with special needs. It's an initiative born in the Netherlands where there are already 30 shops.

Wales also has a similar initiative according to Katherine Simonson:

Is your child (or you) a young adult with special needs who is considering his or her career options? Send us an email to chatback@parent24.com with their plans and we might publish it.
