A friend is coming over, so my 11-year-old has been herded to his room to tame the mess.
Things are more or less grouped, the bed is made, you can see the newly-vacuumed floor, and the clean washing has been put away. It's up to my not-very-high standards.
'Really great, my boy, but what about the mountain of books on your bedside table?'
'Books aren't clutter, that's what you told Dad!'
