6 bizarre birth stories

With the recent strikes causing a woman to give birth in a hospital parking lot, we've decided to gather some of the strangest birth stories on the internet.

Born in a hospital car park

When a pregnant mom was stranded due to the strikes, she was helped by a man in whose backseat she eventually gave birth to her healthy baby girl. Talk about starting life off with a bit of adventure!

Giving birth in a tree

Probably one of the most well-know strange birth stories is of this mother who gave birth to her baby girl while stranded in a tree. She had lived in the treetops for 4 days during the floods in Mozambique.

A 9-year-old gives birth

If a 9-year-old giving birth isn’t strange enough, this little girl did so in the Amazon jungle. Apparently it’s quite common for girls to have sex after their first menstruation.

Born in a public library

When a heavily pregnant woman walked into a public library, I’m sure no-one was expecting her to say that she was in labour! After climbing off of the city bus she had been travelling on and seeking help at the library, she delivered her baby right there. That’s quite a story for the little girl to tell her friends one day!

Born on a pavement

What a way to enter the world! This baby boy was born in Durban on the pavement between two cars. Thankfully he was healthy and his mom did a good job in delivering him.

Crazy but true. Read about it here.

240kg mom gives birth

The heaviest woman known to have given birth in Romania did so via a C-section. The most surprising thing of all (to me anyway) is that her baby girl weighs a healthy 2.9kg.

Don’t believe me? There’s a picture here.
