Mandy Moore is having her baby boy early next year.

Mandy Moore announced in September that she and her husband Taylor are having a baby boy.

In an interview with Kelly Clarkson mom-to-be Mandy said that she broke the news to the family first. "I had to tell my parents via Zoom, which was lovely but not the way that you sort of build up in your brain," she said.

But, the couple had the chance to be creative when then bringing the news to Mandy's mother-in-law, Kathy, who lives nearby.

First, they decided to tell her on her birthday as they thought it would be the best birthday gift for her.

Mandy tells Kelly, "So, we gave her a gift with a card, saying 'Happy birthday, Grandma'. She just said, "Oh thanks"."

It was as if she was insulted by them calling her grandma, she says, but then dad-to-be Taylor took a picture of the ultra sound from his pocket, and that is when his mom clicked, and apparently screamed with shock as she realised that what was going on.

"I've never heard a human being make the sound that she made, it was like a cry and a scream, an exasperation... she was so besides herself with excitement," Mandy told Clarkson.
