WATCH: A premature baby's 80 days in NICU

At a little over 26 weeks of gestation, tiny Walker Colt Pruett was born.

Being born 14 weeks before his due date meant that he was in danger. His lungs were still trying to develop and his brain wave activity had only just started to function.

Walker weighed only a little over 500 grams on the 25th of April 2014, his birth date. He still had a long way to go before he'd reach a normal average birth weight of 3 kilograms.

Despite all of the odds being against him, Walker's parents never gave up. Erica and Jared, his parents, waited 5 days before they could hold their little son. They waited 10 days before his lungs were strong enough for him to cry out loud. Erica waited 44 days before she could breastfeed Walker for the first time.

Walker's parents could only spend 45 minutes a day with him and you can read all about their journey with their son in the neo-natal intensive care unit on their blog.

Thanks to Capturing Hopes Photography, you can watch Walker progress and grow through his 80 days in the NICU.
