Clearly the moral implication of such a thing is quite reprehensible, or is it? Children have been sold since the beginning of time. And it has been reprehensible since the beginning of time. The practice still exists in some poorer communities where children are sold into child labour or prostitution, often by destitute parents trying to stay alive.
This whole MJ thing is just so bizarre. The man was a musical genius, no doubt. But why must greatness so often be balanced with a heavy dose of crazy? And even now after he’s dead and buried, the soap opera of his life continues. RIP MJ.
But when it comes to the fate of his kids, what to do, what to do? Should we stand in moral judgement and shout from the roof tops how disgusted we are that this could be happening right under our noses in the full glare of the world? While forgetting that we never really gave a toss when it was happening in some hell hole in a third world country?
Or should we be looking at our kids in different light? I’ll be honest; the thought has often crossed my mind to sell Maddison, also known as Osama bin Maddison.
The problem is that I’d probably receive her back after she has spent 30 seconds with her new family with a note attached saying: “Please refund our 50 cents immediately, product enclosed is stubborn, single-minded, prone to set things on fire, only does what it wants, when it wants, and thinks being reprimanded or disciplined is a pretext for hilarious laughter.”
Thus my threats to sell her to a wandering band of gypsies will forever remain in the realm of fantasy. Psst, ever think of selling yours?
Do we care too much about what happens to famous people and their families?
