How much is too much?
I was wondering if this is this the new way of ushering our young daughters into the world of grooming, teaching them how to take care of themselves. At that young age, is that what we want them to be worrying about? I know of birthdays which have Barbie dolls, jumping castles, party packs with kids screaming and running around but there seems to be a growing trend of these pamper parties, it’s the IN thing. One might say I am saying all of this because I am raising a boy but even if had a little girl she would not going to have a pamper party.
One of the pamper party websites mentioned that pamper parties are for girls between the ages of 4 and 14 years. Is it really cute to see a toddler with nail polish on? What will a 4 year old do with a facial? Are we not too carried away as parents all in the name of wanting to be different and “with it” with our kids?
When your princess become a diva
In this way are we not raising DIVAS? Why can a child not enjoy being a child and then later when they are teenagers they can worry about makeup if they have to, but not as young as 4 years old. Our kids are exposed to so much already; I am not too sure what else to expect. Are we not planting a seed where our young girls will be obsessed with their looks- that is the last thing I would want for my daughter. Is the message we are giving as parents going to build them up, or are they growing up too fast? I am ready and willing to be educated here by those moms who have pamper parties for their girls.
Of course growing up, I would dress up in my mother’s shoes and put on some make up but there was no event around it. We do not have much time with our kids as children and I think we need to let kids be kids.
