Terrorism, racism and refugees: Not exactly the nicest of things to discuss with your kids when discussing current affairs.

For many parents, allowing children to watch the news might be avoided until a certain age or level of maturity. Especially with all the devastating and disturbing photos and videos that have been going around the media.
Over the weekend people all over the world were able to view graphic footage of the attacks in Paris, and blocking graphic footage and news feeds was almost impossible.
Parents have most likely been bombarded with questions like "why are they fighting, Mommy?" and "why do they have to kill each other, Daddy?"
Depending on whether you've chosen to openly discuss the recent tragedies of the world with your children, you may notice a significant difference in the level of maturity when they react to the news, compared to how you might have reacted to it when you were a child.
Are our children becoming desensitised to some of the atrocities happening in the world? Perhaps with the rise in access to news and other media our children are far more informed, updated and in some cases understand a lot more than their parents do.
