Felix Devigne isn't even a year old yet, but he's already been on a daunting medical journey, one that his parents Julie and Paul didn't see coming.

At four months, Julie suspected Felix had developed a urinary tract infection, but after a hospital visit, doctors found something unusual.

"They started telling me that there was a tumour, and then it kinda just felt like.... this can't be happening," Julie says after imaging revealed a sizeable cancerous tumour in Felix's abdomen.

'I remember just breaking down completely'

Despite treatment, the tumour grew from the size of a grapefruit to a basketball, and doctors told the Devignes Felix my not survive.

"I remember just breaking down completely when we had that conversation," dad Paul recalled.

Finding doctor's willing to perform surgery on their infant son proved a challenge as many surgeons felt it would be impossible to remove the humungous tumour.

Thankfully, doctors at Toronto's SickKids Hospital in Canada managed to perform a seven-hour surgery on the then six-month-old Felix.

Today, Felix is nine months old and progressing as he should. His parents are still overwhelmed by the experience.
