We asked some experienced moms and dads what precautions they take to ensure that the perfect teddy bear’s picnic isn’t a washout, or that pool party dosen’t turn into a tsunami:
Garages and braai rooms
- “We have a massive garage! That will comfortably fit a jumping castle and all the kids.” Nelia
- “One year I organised the party in the garden - it rained on the day - and WOW I manged to entertain 20 children aged 6 in our home.. It was a bit hectic, as I got them to play hide and seek - bad idea!!! But we had fun. Never again! Since then I always book indoor parties at other venues!!!” Genny
- “BIG braai room, thank goodness. Hired a jumping castle one year. beaut weather the whole weekend, except the few hours of the party, when it poured with rain.” Debbie
- “I’m planning my sons 3rd birthday party which is happening later on this month and I have no plan B whatsoever, I’m just hoping it doesn’t rain. I’m leaving it 2 God.” Masego
- “Both my kids are in May. My daughter will be 5 and son 2. We always have a party venue with indoors/outdoor options as the weather can be so unpredictable then.” Brigitta
- “For Layla's 1st b’day we hired a hall.” Carlos
- "Spur". Wendy
- “My daughter’s birthday is in autumn so I always make sure its an indoors venue or at least a nearby indoor back up plan” Nicole
