Mom Nikkie French, who quit her job after being diagnosed with dyslexia in her 40s, is enjoying the sweet taste of success thanks to her business making movie-themed wedding cakes

After struggling at her HR job, Nikkie was advised to test herself for the learning disorder and after testing discovered she suffered severely from the condition.

"All this time, I'd thought I was stupid when really I just didn't have the tools to cope with my learning disability," she said.

'I've learned to be proud'

Meanwhile, in 2015, Nikkie joined her son who was trying out cake decorating classes, and soon enough, she was hooked. In 2017, she decided to carve out a new career path.

Her cake business, Sweet Temptations, specialises in wacky wedding cake creations and so far Nikkie's made cakes themed around The Muppets, Wallace and Gromit and more.

The mom hopes her story will inspire other people with dyslexia not to allow the disorder to hold them back.

"It's something I've learned to be proud of".
