Since becoming a model in her teens, mom and grandmother, Kathi Odem from the US says she never dreamed that she would still be working in her sixties.

The 62-year-old Odem recently went viral after her daughter Sophie posted a sweet birthday tribute to her mother.

Admitting that she thought her mom might be a hit on the social media platform after seeing similar posts, Sophie says she was pleasantly surprised at just how popular her mom was online.

"We were shocked," Sophie said at the more than 2 million views the birthday video post amassed.

'They needed grey-haired models'

Kathi says she believes people are responding to her authenticity, adding that she's even seen an increase in her modelling work since embracing her silver hair - which has been with her since her twenties.

"At 50, I talked to some of my agencies and asked them what they thought about me letting my hair grow in naturally, and they loved it. They needed grey-haired models. My career just took off".

Sharing her philosophy on ageing and perhaps her secret to ageing gracefully, Kathi says it's all about having a positive view on growing older.

"I don't feel bad that my hair is silver. I'm honoured that my hair is silver. I don't feel bad that I have wrinkles because I earned every single one of those wrinkles, and they all tell a story.... Age is not a curse; age is a gift".
