In a country where the minimum wage for a nanny is just above R2 000 a month, parents find themselves navigating what's legal and what's fair and equitable when budgeting for one.

However, what parents are willing to pay isn't the whole picture.

Like in any career, the low bar the government set doesn't equal a competitive or, in this case, fair salary.
