When you decide to have a baby, for some couples it can either happen as soon as you stop your pill and for other women it can take a while. A long while. You end up doing weird and crazy things that you never thought you would ever do.
Basal body temperature
This is one of the things that you will track when trying to chart your ovulation. Your basal body temperature is your lowest body temperature in a 24 hour period. To get an accurate reading, you make your temperature when you first wake up in the morning. Just before you ovulate. Before ovulation your basal body temperature is usually between 36.2 - 36.5 degrees Celsius. Two or three days after ovulation your temperature will rise by about 0.2 degrees Celsius.
Measuring your mucus
Let's be honest, this is can be a bit disgusting. But when you're trying to have a baby, you get very intimate with your own body and you can deal with a lot more. When you're ovulating your oestrogen levels increase and this changes the texture and consistency of your vaginal mucus to resemble raw egg whites (clear and thin). This is so that the sperm can survive the otherwise harsh environment of your womb.
