This is why Anne Hathaway mentioned infertility in her pregnancy announcement

"For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love."

She's currently pregnant with her second child, and now Anne Hathaway is explaining why she used her pregnancy announcement to point out just how tough the fertility journey really is.

The actress took to Instagram to share her happy news and included a little revelation:

"For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love," she captioned the image below.

In a recent interview, Anne explained what motivated the caption.

"The steps that lead up to [pregnancy] are really painful and very isolating and full of self-doubt, and I went through that... I was aware of the fact that when it came time to post that I was pregnant, somebody was going to feel even more isolated because of it... I just want people to know that 'I'm your sister' and that I see them and I have them."
