Having a perfect pregnancy and birth is what every mother wants. Of course every birth is different and complications can arise when least expected. Multiple births are known to be more complicated than single baby births.

Take a look at these amazing birth stories that are very rare.

Two sets of identical twins... at once

The chances of giving birth to identical twins is rare on it's own, giving birth to TWO sets of identical twins at the same time is almost unheard of! Even though this Texan couple were not using fertility drugs, they still ended up with 4 babies. And while quadruplets are amazing on their own, this mom carried two sets of twins in two different placentas. The tiny babies were born on the 14th of February 2013.

Incredible 'mono mono' twins

You may remember these twin girls who were all over the news after holding hands soon after being born in May of 2014. But why exactly are these little girls so special? They are referred to as 'mono mono' or monoamnioitic twins. Most identical twin and fraternal twin pregnancies see the babies in their own amniotic sacs. In the case of mono mono twins, which occurs approximately one in every 10000 pregnancies, the babies share an amniotic sac. There are many risks in a mono mono pregnancy including birth defects and tangled umbilical cords. Mother Sarah Thistlethwaite spent 57 days in bed prior to giving birth to the baby girls via C-section on the 9th of May 2014.

Twins born in different years

You may think that being pregnant with twins automatically means giving birth to two babies at the same time. But for some, that's not the case. After a few pregnancy complications, Simone Keys went into early labour and brought her very small son into the world 95 days before her daughter. Little Timothy weight only 1 pound and 14 ounces (or 850 grams). Because he was born prematurely and his sister was born more than 3 months later, their birthdays fell into different years. Timothy was born in October 1994 and his sister Celeste was born in January 1995.
