
Every baby is different but thankfully the average baby born only weighs between 2.5kgs and 4kgs. There are times when a baby can be much smaller or much heavier than that. Some studies show that it could be due to the age of the birth mother or even her weight.

Canada
The biggest baby ever recorded by the Guinness World Book of Records is a boy born to a giantess named Anna Haining Swan (1846 - 1888). The baby boy was born on 19 January 1879 and unfortunately died soon after.

The second biggest baby ever was born in Italy to Carmelina Fedele in September 1955. Unfortunately not very much is known about the baby girl or her mother.

The third largest baby was a girl born in March 2007 and she's South African. She's also the heaviest baby ever recorded to be born at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town! Chesner Abels was so big that her mother, Cathleen Abels was convinced that she was pregnant with twins. Cathleen, who also has 3 other kids, said that the birth was "very sore" but she was just happy to have a healthy baby.

In Texas, a baby boy dubbed "The Moose" was born in July 2011. JaMichael Brown, named after his mother Janet and father Michael, was not only the biggest baby born in the hospital but in the state of Texas! He was also so big at birth that the hospital didn't have nappies large enough to fit him.

Dilan Aram Hernandez did more than give his parents a surprise when he was born in August 2013, he also got his father a much needed job. Because of Dilan's size and the fact that he is one of seven children in his low-income family, the local authorities of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico gifted his parents with formula, clothing and much more. They also gave his dad a job so that he can support his growing brood.
