Print a 3D model of your foetus

A clinic in Japan is offering expectant couples so much more than just a fuzzy black-and-white scan of their unborn baby. Now you can take home a 3D-printed model instead.

This new technology means that by using MRI scans, which are similar to an ultrasound, an almost-perfect picture of an unborn baby can be created into an amazing 3D-printed resin model. A clear resin is used to print the mom's body and white is used for the baby.

At a cost of 100,000 yen (approximately R10,000) it's a pricey piece of art! The clinic will soon be offering a cheaper version of only the baby's face for 50,000 yen (approximately R5,000).
