It’s not enough that you need to pee at 3am and can’t get comfortable, now you’re woken by a shooting pain in your leg. Cramps during pregnancy often strike the thighs, calves or feet and they usually consists of a sharp pain followed by an aching pain. They can result from a shortage of calcium in your diet.
If you experience cramps, massage the area firmly and flex and point your foot. Get someone to rub the sore area firmly (you probably can’t reach it yourself…) A warm bath can relieve the ache, but don’t be surprised if your leg stills feels tender for a day or two.
- Exercise regularly, especially walking.
- Wear low-heeled shoes.
