Pregnant women have a lot on their plates. Swollen feet, big bellies, waddling all over the place and generally feeling uncomfortable in their own skins. So when we posed the question: "Are pregnant women really more moody than usual?" to our Facebook fans, this is what they had to say:
I thought people were talking a whole load of nonsense when they used to talk about being moody and stuff during pregnancy. People used to warn my hubby to steer clear of me and we used to laugh because I was the calmest I've ever been during the 1st 7 months of my pregnancy. I was enjoying every minute and even the lady I work with said to me I should be pregnant all the time cos I was in such a good mood all the time. But this all suddenly changed in my 8 month! I couldn't say 2 words to my mum or hubby without lashing out at them, felt like I was gonna burst cos I had suddenly become this big blimp and was just generally a nightmare to be around! So, yup, I think pregnant women definitely do get hit by moodiness, some more than others, some throughout their pregnancy and others only @ times. But I must say that having a partner that understands that its hormones talking and you going through a whole lot of changes and not just hating him, makes a HUGE difference when those mood swings hit! - Fathima BabyCakes Ebrahim
Oh most definitely! I sure am :/ - Diann Hutchison
I wasn't more moody, I just got irritated more quickly - Brigitta Ellis-Nel
Sometimes... depends on the nature of the pregnancy. If she is "carrying big" then I think so yes... speaking from experience lol - Edwardine Kay Rose
Well I know I am this time. Last time I wasn't though. My gynae also said you're more likely to be moody if carrying a girl cos there are more female hormones in your body. But doesn't mean you'll only be like it if carrying a girl, just more likely. - Fiona Crowley
I know I was, my husband said I was a different person half the time, and we had a girl, that makes the mood swings worse. - Margo Prowse
I was pregnant last year and was exceptionally moodier than usual. Anyone and that came my way and annoyed me got a tongue lashing. Thank goodness I am not like that anymore - hated being so hormonal. - Natasha Moodley
