WATCH | These childhood sweethearts already had three children when they welcomed quadruplets

They longed for a big family. 

And despite having gone through years of fertility issues due to polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis, childhood sweethearts April and Phil Gardner were blessed with three children, Rilee (24), Whitlee (18), and Jaxton (7). 

Not discouraged by the six miscarriages they had experienced, the couple set their hearts on having just one more child. 

With assistance from a fertility clinic, the pair welcomed their quadruplets, Ryker, Tallon, Berklee and Bowen, in 2015.

As a family of nine, the Gardners spend $400 (R6636,96) on food each week but say they wouldn't change things for the world.
