5 valuable life lessons from 4-year-olds

The life of a 4-year-old must be rather interesting, their inquisitiveness about the world is so precious. Thanks to BBC Earth, we’re able to get a look into the minds of these little wanderers on the award-winning show The Secret Life of 4-Year-Olds, with an all-new cast of kiddies! Though little, these absolutely adorable kids could teach adults a lot about the world we live in.

Here are 5 valuable life-lessons from 4-year-olds:

1. Take risks

Risk it to get the biscuit! While a 4-year-old may be risking it to get actual biscuits, adults can learn a thing or two about taking risks in life despite being fearful of failure. Seeing the confident little souls on The Secret Life of 4 Year Old persevere and take risks to get what they want is truly inspiring. Through tears and tantrums, there are always triumphs!

2. Experiment with new things

The 4-year-olds show us how stepping out of our comfort zones lead to a world of wonderful opportunities. Don't be afraid to talk to new and different people and explore different avenues because you and this world are both bursting with potential!

3. Sharing is caring

Although somewhat of a cliché, sharing with someone really is an act of care. Four-year-olds may not always be that inclined to share their things, but watching the little ones on this show learn to share and become more considerate of others is truly heartwarming. It should be a lesson to adults to do the same and adopt this important attribute: "A gift shared is a gift multiplied."

4. Speak up for what you believe in

It comes as no surprise that 4-year-olds can be extremely vocal about the things they want and the things they believe in. Adults, on the other hand, are more wary of voicing their opinions on things they are certain of. Having self-confidence and dismissing self-doubt are things adults could learn from these 4-year-olds. Express yourself despite what others may think of you!

5. Be kind and friendly, always

In a world where many people are not all that friendly, be the one that is. It's easy for adults to get side-tracked by our busy lives but it is important to always remember the value of kindness. These kiddies are able to build incredible human connections because of their friendly nature, and no matter how old you are, you can do the same!

Be sure to get your cute-fix with The Secret Lives of 4-Year-Olds, on BBC Earth, DSTV channel 184, Mondays at 20:30.
