Feed Baby tracker app

Way back in the time of our forefathers when dinosaurs walked the Earth and smartphones weren't a thing, people raised their kids without the use of apps. Why in Lord’s name, I hear you ask, would you need an app to tell you when to feed your baby or put him to sleep? Surely that’s just lazy parenting?

But let me tell you something, this app is amazing!!!

It's a godsend to the sleep deprived parent. It allows you to track your baby’s feeds (breast and bottle), sleep, nappies (poos and pees), medicine and growth. It also allows you to log your pumping sessions if you’re doing so.

We don’t use all the functions because we’re not obsessive about his nappies and he seems to be growing normally so not too worried about that either. But the feeding and sleeping tracking takes all the guess work out of why he’s grumpy. It doesn’t mean that we’re rigid in our routine with him because we adjust the alerts as he grows and changes.

The feed screen has nice big buttons at the top so it’s easy to log whichever type of feed you’re doing. It’s not so necessary for breast feeds but I log it anyway because the Next Feed alarm is set for 3.5 hours after the last feed. My son is currently going 4 hours between feeds so we’ve set the alarm half an hour earlier to get the bottle ready for his next feed. It eliminates having to deal with an hysterically hungry baby while trying to prepare or heat up a bottle.

The At A Glance screen gives you a summary of when the last feed started and ended, how much formula and solids baby’s had and most importantly, when the next alarm is.

The sleep screen is similar and self explanatory. What I love most about logging his sleep is seeing the patterns that emerge. It’s easier to recognise he’s tired cues because it’s not always yawning and eye rubbing.

What are you syncing about?

But my favourite thing about this app is the syncing. Both The Husband and I have the app on our phones so while I’m at work I can see that my son is currently sleeping or feeding. We don’t have to have “hand over” conversations every evening because I know when he’s next due a nap or feed.

You may think that this is completely unnecessary and you don’t need an app to help you parent and add to the admin but honestly I love how much easier this makes our lives. At first I thought, "Where am I going to find the time to log everything, all the time?!"  but the handy widget buttons that you can place on your homescreen makes this a non-issue.
