South Africa has some of the most picturesque cycling routes, but riding them can be fraught.

The reality is that riding on the verge is often safer than on the road. And to make this reality more structured and usable for weekend warrior mountain bikers and local commuters, a new build programme is in the works.

With help from Imperial, Trails South Africa have embarked on a project to link existing mountain bike trails and, by doing so, create many new kilometres of trails for use by a wide variety of cyclists.
