Starting out on an old 'dikwiel' when he was a kid, Eric got serious about bicycles in 2000: “A friend needed a wetsuit and sold his Le Jeune to me to pay for his new wetsuit. I did my first Argus two weeks later and that is when I was really bitten by the cycling bug.”
These days he and his brother log around 200km each week along the Melkbos/Tableview/Milnerton bike lanes, doing four to five, rides that include a longer outings on weekends. “I ride most of my bikes as I collect models in my own size. In 2019 I set myself a challenge during which I rode 28 different bikes in 28 days. Some of my bikes are just collectors items, like my track bikes.”
