E-bikes are great to ride, but any rider who has had to lift them, will know they aren’t light.
Whether lifting an e-bike onto your vehicle bike rack or over a fence on the trail, it’s not easy.
Most e-bikes are in the 20-25kg range. And unless you regularly dominate the floor at CrossFit, that’s heavy. Especially when you are a bike mechanic and have to service several e-bikes daily.
A Slovenian company, DBDtools, has created an e-bike work stand that lessens the lifting burden for bike mechanics. The E-Billy repair stand isn’t cheap, at R38 000, but it has an array of clever features to make lifting and servicing heavy e-bikes, much less burdensome.
Remote lift control
Drawing electric power from a standard wall plug, the E-Billy’s repair stand can lift a 40kg e-bike to 1.85m. The elevation speed is 6m/min.
It takes the E-Billy only five seconds to get an average e-bike off the floor and in position. Any mechanic using the E-Billy has complete remote control of its lifting function, including an auto stop override.
The E-Billy’s lifting tower also includes electric outlets, allowing a mechanic to use various powered tools, without having to run extension cords, from the wall.
A heavy-duty clamp, designed with robust quick-release, can move through 360-degrees. This makes it very easy for mechanics to manipulate an e-bike in the E-Billy repair stand, instead of moving around it, as they work their way through a servicing routine.
The DBDtools E-Billy repair stand weighs 42kg and is secured and balanced by a 42kg floorplate.
