If your situation allows it, cycling to work is one of the best ways to start your day.

With the petrol price currently at an all-time high, an active commute is more economical. And allows one to use commuting time to rack up some good training miles.

The right equipment can take the hack out of commuting and ensure that you always have everything you need, whether commuting to the office or your local coffee spot with excellent Wi-Fi.

Commuting by bicycle requires a light backpack with good packing capabilities, especially for electronic devices. Thule’s Paramount Commuter is all about protecting your digital devices while on the bike. However, Thule has taken this concept one step further and included many innovative features that make it the ideal commuting companion.

Waterproof materials and coated zippers help protect what is inside the Paramount, against the elements.

An integrated rain cover ensures a higher degree of waterproofing, if you get caught in an afternoon thundershower. This rain cover is made from a highly reflective material, which helps transform the backpack into a reflective pod, a great advantage when riding in low light conditions.

Much like Thule’s hip packs a hidden fleece lined cellphone pocket allows you to access your phone with one hand, a feature that we love, for those impromptu Instagram snaps.

An adjustable sternum strap helps keep the wide shoulder shoulder straps in the right place and ensure comfort, especially when the pack is heavily loaded. The rear panel is mesh, increasing airflow and reducing sweaty back syndrome.

The Paramount's front expansion pocket is designed to hold a helmet while off the bike but is also a great spot for bulkier items, like a jacket or shoes while riding.

A small essentials pocket is perfect for keeping a wallet or glasses safe and includes a key tether. It is protected by a magnetic flap, that allows quick access when opening doors or paying for coffee.

The 27-litre carrying capacity is split between two compartments, each with its own zip. A large central pocket is perfect for a complete change of clothes, or even your lunch and includes a small mesh pocket that is ideal for toiletries.
