No, Eroica is not missing a ‘t’, neither is sponsored by Adult World.

If you’ve not heard of it, Eroica is an event specifically for classic steel bicycles held each year in the Western Cape town of Montagu.

Originally founded in Tuscany back in 1997 by Giancarlo Brocci, a collector of vintage racing bicycles and author of an acclaimed biography on 1930s Italian cycling god Gino Bartali, the event began as a protest ride to prevent the tarring of the legendary strade bianche — the famous white gravel roads that hosted those early Giro d’Italia races.
