  • Wind turbines and bicycles both use composite materials.
  • But would you ride on your composite bike, on a wind turbine blade, 80m above the ground?
  • The world’s best trick rider, Danny MacAskill, had to try.

Danny MacAskill might not win races, but he is one of the world’s best-known riders.

The Scottish mountain biker and trials rider has performed some of the most incredible feats of technical bicycle riding, in living memory.

After a homemade edit propelled him to stardom back in 2009, Danny has created some of the most viewed cycling videos in history.

His humility and outrageous riding skills have made Danny one of the world’s most recognizable riders.

Riding cleaner

Born and raised on the Island of Skye, Danny knows the value of a pristine environment. The cycling industry is becoming more reflective about sustainability and in his latest edit, Danny visits a wind turbine factory to show off his riding skills.

The best bicycle frames and wind turbine blades both use advanced composites. Danny brings the two together, as he rides the custom carbon-fibre trials bike Santa Cruz built for him around the turbine factory in an extraordinary way.

In typical Danny MacAskill fashion, the grand finale is an epic ride on a wind turbine blade. At a dizzying height of 80m. Not that it bothered Danny.

"I have always looked at wind turbines and thought how cool it would be to ride one. So, it was amazing to get the opportunity to make it happen as part of our recent film we shot to for the Climategames. Ahead of the upcoming COP26 summit in Glasgow this month!"
