Cape Town - The mutilated body of 19-year-old Lekita Moore has been found in a field in Valhalla Park, Western Cape police said on Monday.

She was found with multiple stab wounds in a field along Tuna Road on Sunday, Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said.

According to a Facebook post on Western Cape Gangwatch, a friend had been with Lekita when an unidentified assailant attacked them.

The friend was stabbed and is in a coma in hospital.

Lekita's father Charl received the news of his daughter's death while he was at work, the Daily Voice reported.

Charl could only tell the daily of his shock at having to identify his daughter's body in the field where she was murdered.

Along with stab wounds, one of her nipples and a part of her crotch area had been cut away.

Van Wyk appealed to anyone with information about the crime to contact Bishop Lavis police on 021-935-9803.

No arrests have been made. A case of murder is under investigation.
