A cold and gloomy day at the Wanderers was warmed up by a clash between Titans and Proteas opener Aiden Markram and his bowling counterpart from the Lions, Kagiso Rabada.

That Markram got to his unbeaten 165-ball 85 wasn't without its mishaps. In what was a searing spell by the Proteas pace spearhead, Markram's abilities were tested to the full.

The 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup titans hardly get to play against each other, but their encounter had an important subtext attached to it.
