Cape Town - Proteas captain AB de Villiers has lauded the team's selectors for getting it spot on in the ODI series against India.

The Proteas have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series heading into Wednesday's final game at Centurion.

They comprehensively beat India by 141 runs in the first ODI in Johannesburg before sealing the series with a 134-run win in Durban last Sunday.

De Villiers, who himself is also part of the selection committee, said the decision to persist with Quinton de Kock as opener ahead of Graeme Smith was the right one. De Kock scored two centuries in the first two games.

In an interview with the Beeld website, De Villiers said it was arguably their toughest decision yet to make.

"I feel one has to go with your gut feeling on what you believe are the right 11 players.

"So well done to Russ (Russell Domingo - coach), myself and the selectors for giving us the right guys," said De Villiers.

With the series already in the bag, key players like Jacques Kallis, Morné Morkel en Dale Steyn could get a breather on Wednesday.
