Cape Town - Proteas one-day captain AB de Villiers says Quinton de Kock needs a little more experience before he can be included in the Test line-up.

De Kock, who turns 21 on December 17, hit his third century in a row against India at Centurion on Wednesday as the Proteas racked up 301/9 before the game was washed out.

He joined four other players who had hit a hat-trick of hundreds in one-day internationals - Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar and two South Africans, De Villiers and Herschelle Gibbs.

De Villiers, who himself hit 109 on Wednesday, said De Kock is not quite ready for the Test arena.

The Proteas will play India in two Tests, with the first starting in Johannesburg on December 18.

De Villiers is the Test wicketkeeper, while Thami Tsolekile is the other 'keeper in the squad.

"Look, Quinny has clearly shown he has the skills and talent to be wicketkeeper in all three formats (De Kock is also 'keeper in T20s)," De Villiers told the Volksblad website.

"(But) I think he still needs to gain a bit more experience when it comes to Test cricket. However, it depends on the selectors, the coach and captain (Graeme Smith is SA's Test captain) to make that decision," said De Villiers.
