Benoni - The two-day warmup match between India and a South African Invitation XI was abandoned due to a wet outfield in Benoni on Friday.

With Benoni having received more than 800 millimetres of rain in the past three weeks, even a sunny day was not enough to dry out a series of wet spots around Willowmoore Park.

Instead, India were granted special permission to use the match pitch to hold an extended net session and were likely to train at the Wanderers on Saturday.

The first Test between South Africa and India gets underway at the Wanderers, in Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
