Cape Town - India fast bowler Ishant Sharma says South Africa's Quinton de Kock was quite lucky to score three centuries against them.

De Kock, who turns 21 on December 17, hit his third century in a row against India at Centurion on Wednesday as the Proteas racked up 301/9 before the game was washed out.

He joined four other players who had hit a hat-trick of hundreds in one-day internationals - Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar and two South Africans, AB de Villiers and Herschelle Gibbs.

Sharma was less than impressed by the youngster's performance though.

"I think he has been quite lucky. I can say that. Because the ball is getting in between fielders, he is getting top edges, players have been dropping catches off him. I think, you have to take positives. If he is scoring, good for him. What we can do is more important," Sharma told ESPNcricinfo's Firdose Moonda.

De Kock was dropped twice on Thursday, once on 37 when Ajinkya Rahane put down a regulation chance at short fine leg, and once on 43 when Yuvraj Singh put down a difficult chance at mid-on.

Apart from that De Kock played quite brilliantly over all three innings in the series.

De Kock and his skipper AB de Villiers, who also scored 109 on Thursday, had a chuckle when hearing of Sharma's remarks.

South Africa won the three-game ODI series 2-0 after no result was possible on Thursday.

They will now play India in two Tests, with the first starting in Johannesburg on December 18.
